Zack Synder to Direct “Superman” Remake

Written on October 5, 2010 – 8:51 am | by gpelkofski

Warner Brothers is finally giving Superman another crack at a new movie franchise and they have chosen Zack Synder to direct it. Synder has already done two comic book movie adaptations with Frank Miller’s 300 and Alan Moore’s Watchmen. However, it will be interesting to see how Synder, who is famous for his violent movies, interprets the mythology of Superman.

The new Superman movie is also being produced by The Dark Knight‘s director Christopher Nolan. WB has also expressed interest in seeing Mad Men‘s Jon Hamm as the Man of Steel. However, Hamm has previously expressed that he has no interest in playing the Last Son of Krypton, “he’s invincible, so where’s the drama?”

Either way, I’m excited.

I know everybody is super excited and just clamoring for pics and info about the prequel of a movie that was made almost 30 years ago. And guess what… they are finally here. Aint It Cool’s own Quint visited the set of the The Thing: The Prequel (which is the title I personally think it should have) and snapped a few pics.

Here’s one:

I’m just glad everyones prayers are finally being answered. But what I am most excited about is the fact that nobody has made a bad prequel yet, so this is sure to be great. Buy your tickets now!

Lollapalooza 1991: Revisited

Written on October 3, 2010 – 9:58 pm | by Alex Howard

The word, “Lollapalooza” dates from an American idiom from the late 19th century meaning “one that is extraordinarily impressive.”

What many people do not know is the impact it has had on other bands trying to make their big break.  It was created in 1991 by Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Ferrell as a farewell tour for his band (even though they reunited later on).

Bands such as Tool, Primus, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam and others were known to make their big breaks at this festival over the years.

Check out some footage from Nine Inch Nails from the original festival!

Deerhunter–Halcyon Digest

Written on September 29, 2010 – 7:01 pm | by britnipetersen

Deerhunter  just realeased their newest album, “Halcyon Digest.” It’s surprisingly different from the bands past albums, but the change is praiseworthy. The album is more reflective rather than aggressive, and it shows Deerhunter’s maturity. Two of the tracks worth listening to are “Desire Lines,” and “Hellicopter.”

Max Weinberg and Conan Split

Written on September 29, 2010 – 5:59 pm | by emilysharrer

Max Weinberg, E Street Band drummer and the head of Conan O’Brien’s house musicians since 1993, is reportedly not joining Conan when he moves to his new show on TBS.  Weinberg, who took breaks from “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” to tour following Bruce Springsteen’s reunion with the E Street Band, stayed with Conan through the much too short-lived “Tonight Show” era.

Missed Weinberg on “Late Night?”

Check out one of the famous “Max and Conan Hang Out” skits here.
