Goodman to Play Bad Guy

Popular horror movie fan-site Dread Central reports that Clerks/Jersey Girl writer/director Kevin Smith dropped the news that John Goodman is going to be playing a Paster Fred Phelps type villian in Smith’s upcoming religous horror film “Red State.”
I for one am excited. Smith and Goodman are a natural pairing. They are both fat, white and can grow super-sweet beards. Plus, after “Cop Out” I’m pretty sure that Kevin Smith owes me about $12.

Nice! I didn’t know anything about this film, but just hearing about it now has me excited.

This makes me interested in what Kevin Smith has up his sleeve for this one. I’ve heard a lot about this project and after following Kevin on Twitter I was glad to know that this movie was given the green light and had support from a lot of his twitter followers, myself included. And I think Goodman is a good choice to play the Phelps-type villain because of his bombastic nature.

Ha ha I like how you showed an image of Goodman’s character in The Big Lebowski to get us pumped. I’d forgotten that despite all the Disney movies and Roseanne episodes, he’s actually a good actor. I’m kinda mixed about Smith, but I hope this movie is awesome.
