Retro Nike Blazer

Nike recently released a recreation of the vintage Nike Blazer. This iconic pair of sneakers looks exponentially better with this aesthetic. Nike has brought back the oversized swoosh, as well as a retro-fitted tongue reminiscent of the Blazers from the 70’s. To be more specific, these are a re-release of a shoe originally put out in 1973, and I could barely see the difference. Nowadays, the way-too-colorful, borderline-ridiculous sneakers are starting to get played out; it’s refreshing to see something this clean and this classy back on the market. The two colorways are great as well: a washed yellow and a washed blue. This is an undeniably great sneaker.

I think that is a good perspective on the retro shoes. Recently I have become a fan of the bright 80’s colors that are coming back into fashion. My oldest sister being ten years older then me lived through the 80’s and now looking at pictures of her outfits comparing it to some of my outfits, we could be twins. I think it is always amazing how most fashion styles go in rotation. Remember when we were about two and the best friends bracelets were popular, well here they are again. Below is a great article that discusses the ups and downs of fashion fads.

The Nike Blazer is my favorite sneaker, next to the Jordan 3s. Although I do not wear tennis shoes anymore, I would totally rock these kicks. The pale color choices for these remakes are classic; they are so Fall-ish. Love them!

Being an avid fashion reporter in the last 5 years, I have reported on some of the craziest styles and you are completly right. Fashion had really started to take a turn for the weird and crazy ever since Gaga came on the scene, but I’m really liking this blast to the past. These kicks may be old school but they are so fresh, and although the colors are muted, I can see them standing out just enough with a few outfit combinations.
P.S: Not sure if you have seen the new commercial on MTV with the two rappers (or just guys) who talk about how they are bringing the past fashion, music, lifestyle to our generation but it’s message is simmilar to yours here. Things are starting to get played out, and it’s time to return to the basics.

This capsule review was supposed to be turned in on Blackboard, but I will give you credit for it. Pay closer attention to the assignments in class, please.
