‘Tis the Season for Infomercials

Infomercials are at an all time high during this time of the year. Adweek’s ad critic, Barbara Lippert, snips a little fun at these infamous infomercials such as Snuggie and Shake Weights, while also arguing that infomercials “tap into the basic American spirit of hope”. Check the video out here.

After months and months of agonizing over it, I finally bought myself a Snuggie!

I bought one too! They are selling it at the “seen on TV” store at the mall, I can’t believe they have an entire store of all the infomercials! RIDICULOUS but I have found really fun stuff (good for Christmas gifts!)

I am not curious enough to watch the video, but how much ARE these ‘snuggie’ things? Cheap enough to justify being ripped off? Or are they just THAT glorious? I do give a big kudos to whoever “invented” these and thought to market them. It’s a pretty genius way to make money off of buyers who want to hop on the bandwagon.

Light-bulb: I’d much prefer to DIY my own ‘snuggie.’ Old sweatshirt + old blanket = Voila!
