Website response: Rizzo Music

For those who are addicted to the ’90s music beat, Rizzomusic.com is one of the best websites around for that category.  This website is dedicated to covering everything there is to ’90s music, including the top songs and artists, song and album reviews, news articles, the background behind ’90s genres, music videos, playlists and much more.

It was started in 2006 by “one college student’s dream to revive the best music of the decade.”  This college student  goes by the name of “Rizzo.”  This site is very fan-oriented, which attracted me to this right away.

An article that attracted me was entitled, “The Beats That Live On and On and On.” This article gives an in-depth look of the impact ’90s rap had on the rap of today, and how many of the influences are not appreciated today.  This article is basically like a history lesson and is by far my favorite article on the site.  The next article is called, “90s Grunge Hits,” and gives an inside look on the flannel shirt and why it was such an important part of grunge music.  A playlist is added to the end of the article.  The last column is a “Song of the Week” segment in which he chooses a song to talk about and gives the band’s intake on it.

Even though Rizzo Music is one of the few ’90s music sites and is quite informative and entertaining, it still has its weaknesses.  A lot of the articles are outdated, and some of them do not give enough information on the impact of ’90s music as a whole instead of individual bands.

There are several ideas of articles I came up with to make this site even better.  One is to talk about if there is any hope left in the future of music.  Decades such as the ’90s had so many different genres emerge out of nowhere, but everything today seems to be the same.  Another one I could write about is a summary/review of ’90s cover bands, just to add something different to the mix.  Do any of these cover bands remind me of the originals?  The other idea is to revisit past concerts/festivals of the ’90s, and what it meant for those bands who performed on the big stage to get their big break.

Nice post. I really love that there are websites, such as this, that keep the ’90s music alive! I miss that style of music.

That post on ’90s festivals would make a great addition to that site. 10/10
